“Though you have not seen [Jesus Christ], you love him. Though you do not
now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with JOY that is inexpressible
and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your
souls.”I Peter 1:8-9(ESV©)
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD----- FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD—
“And Jesus called a little child unto him and set him in the midst of them.”
Yes, it’s still summer and HOT here in the SW desert, but a great time to shop
the “back-to-school” sales for kid’s stuff. School supplies, small toys, T-shirts,
socks, bars of soap, toothbrushes, etc.all fit nicely in the Christmas Child
boxes that will be setting in the narthex the end of September. It always feels
good to fill a box or two, include notes with encouragement and prayer verses
and return them during October.
This year we are hoping to hold a “gift making” event in our Fellowship Hall
toward the end of September, so please “stay tuned” for details. GOD IS
GREAT and HE blesses us with the gift of the Christ Child.
New Ministry Coordinator: Von Knight
More volunteers are required so this ministry can continue to be the valuable resource that it has
been. Transportation volunteers are called upon to help our members get to medical appointments
and LCRS events and worship. The Transportation Coordinator is equipped with the names and
phone numbers of those who have specifically volunteered for this ministry as well as a list of our
members by sub-division. Please consider helping your literal neighbor if called upon.
Do you need a ride? Please call ONE WEEK in advance so there is adequate time to get a
volunteer for you.
Transportation ministry coordinator, Von Knight, will be with family September 16th through
October 21. If you need a ride to a medical appointment, worship or church event, please
contact Deaconess Jeri at least a week in advance.
Office 625-2612 (M-Th), Home 647-9980.
Morning Scripture and
Prayers are read
8:00AM in the Narthex.
A daily order is followed
– anyone may lead –
and whoever is here at
that time is welcome to
participate. This is a
time, we gather at the
baptismal font, and each
session last about five
minutes. If you are on
campus, please join us!

The next class of Living Discipleship begins Monday, 22 September at 10:00AM.
You are invited! Pastor Stieve leads this 12-session course, as we explore the
basics of Christian faith and Lutheran doctrines. Our textbook is the Bible, and outlines
are provided. There is no charge for the class. Please phone the church office or bring in a
small registration form (in the narthex) if you plan to attend. Each session lasts about two
hours (with a break). If you have questions about the course, please contact Pastor Stieve.
We hope you will study and grow with us.
Joyous Jubilee Thankoffering – The Board of Trustees authorized a special thank
offering in concert with the conclusion of our Joyous Jubilee † Sharing God’s Grace
anniversary year. Special envelopes in your offering envelope carton are provided for gifts
to support our “mother” and “grandmother” churches in Tucson – Holy Trinity and Faith –
equally. Contributions will be received from September 14th – October 26th.
These churches supplied prayers, people and funds that resulted in mission “plants” in
Tucson, Green Valley and Rio Rico. We thank God for them. Please pray about this and
consider a generous offering in thanks to our gracious Lord and God!
